Western Maine Community Action Health Services includes a range of clinical, outreach, education, awareness and support services.

FAMILY PLANNING & REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE 

Our Mission: Western Maine Community Action Health Services is the reproductive health and family planning program of WMCA.  Western Maine Community Health Services are committed to providing expert, caring, and affordable health services and information to help women and men, teens and adults, make informed decisions affecting their health and lives. 

Locations: Our offices are located in Farmington, Lewiston, Norway and Rumford.  Our Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic is in Auburn.  We also offer family planning services at Sacopee Valley Health Center in Porter. 

Confidentiality: All of our services are confidential.  We will not tell anyone that you are a client here or release any information about you unless you ask us to.

Eligibility: Western Maine Community Action Health Services are open to anyone, male or female, teen or adult.  We have a discount fee program that determines prices for our services.

Our Clinical Services include:

For Women

For Men

  • Testing, diagnosis and treatment of STI’s (sexually transmitted infections)

For Both

  • Anonymous HIV counseling and testing (Lewiston STD Clinic)

  • Confidential HIV counseling and testing (all sites)

  • School and sports physicals

The STD Clinic

  • Evening STD clinics by appointment for men and women

  • Anonymous & confidential HIV antibody counseling and testing by appointment.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

The long-term goals of the Community Outreach Program of Western Maine Community Action Health Services are to: 

  • Reduce the incidence of teen pregnancy

  • Improve the health of teens and adult women

  • Reduce the incidence of sexually transmitted infections

  • Increase access to reproductive health services for women and teens

  • Increase community understanding of the services family planning provides

 The Community Outreach Educator works with many schools and non-profit organizations in the tri-county area.  For more information about Community Outreach, contact Psargent@wmca.org



FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION

The goal of the Family Life Education program is for teachers, parents and other adolescent provider agencies to have access to technical assistance, curriculum building, training, teaching and resources in order to: 

  • Eradicate unintended teen pregnancy

  • Reduce teen rates of sexually transmitted infections

  • Help schools work with students to foster skills building around sexual and relationship issues and to promote abstinence or protection as options.

  • Promote the integration of family life education into comprehensive sexuality health education in the K-12 curricula.

The Family Life Educator for Western Maine Community Action Health Services works in over 25 schools in the tri-county area.  For more information about Family Life Education, contact dbrown@wmca.org

 

LGBTQ YOUTH

Outright/Lewiston-Auburn: The mission of Outright/Lewiston-Auburn is to provide safe, supportive environments for youth age 22 and under who are Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and/or Questioning.

Outright/Lewiston-Auburn is dedicated to a philosophy of youth/adult collaboration that encourages and seeks out young people to be involved with every aspect of the program.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

Healthy You Traveling Show

The Healthy You Traveling Show is a breast cancer awareness and education project.  Partially funded by the Maine chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation www.komenmaine.com. This project takes fun, interesting and interactive breast cancer information on the road.  This movable display will travel throughout the tri-county area, helping to spread information about breast cancer prevention, detection and diagnosis.
